ANNEXURE B

Organ Transplantation is one of the greatest achievements of modern medicine. OrganathonFoundation is a – “pro bono publico” - initiative and the promoters of this charitable trust (NGO) want to do everything possible, in a structured manner, to reach out to people, create awareness and convince them to pledge their organs as a “Gift of Life” to save several other lives.

  • There is a serious and ever widening Demand-Supply gap between the organs available and the demand for Organ transplantation. Unfortunately, as per statistics, Northern India is lagged far behind in the Cadaver (Brain dead) organ donations as compared to Southern India (0.05% vs.15%).
  • Nearly 42% of the Road Traffic Accidents occurring in our country end up in fatal head injuries and this category is infact the best suited for organ donation. All it needs is to instil awareness and willingness for organ donation.
    • As per National Crime Record Bureau (www.ncrb.nic.in) and ADSI (Accidental Deaths & Suicides in India - 2016) Click to Watch (2016 RTA Statistics) Click to Watch (Video NDTV On RTA).
    • There is ~ 15% increase in RTA in 2016 (Road Traffic Accident) as compared to 2015. Every 15-17 minutes one person dies in RTA. The mean age of RTA Death is around 17 years, of which around 40-42% die due to Head Injury and less than half of these reaches hospital. These are the potential donor for Organ & Tissue retrieval in case of Brain death. Here lies the main thrust of the organisation to counsel more & more of this deceased patient to donate & recycle their Organs.
  • Organathon Foundation working on this mission, is dully registered and due exemptions (12A, 80G) have also been taken. The trade mark related to the organization in the field of Health, Education; Social welfare has also been applied for.
  • Obesity has struck the world as an epidemic and WHO has declared specially childhood obesity Tsunami. Organization is working on this aspect also and the details are mentioned in the website.
  • There is a highly qualified team, sensitive and dedicated to this issue, to take this mission forward shouldering different perspectives and responsibilities.
